I sort of forgot

Yes, I sort of forgot I had this blog.

Seeing as though it was November last year when I last posted, a good five months ago, I thought I'd write something.

I'm obviously not going to talk through everything I've done since November last year, but here are some highlights, in no particular order, mixed with some photos and maybe the occasional video to break up your reading. I'm so kind :)

Adam
Adam Smith is great. He is a master of tricks and jumps, but, the other day, he cut his head open. He was rolling, sort of slaloming, between some square metal bollards in town, a fairly busy bit of town, when a woman suddenly walked past and not being one to mow down middle-aged women, he rolled out of the way. Unfortunately he rolled directly into a square metal bollard, his head taking full force on the corner. Bad times.

We spoke to some nearby police-type-folks who cleverly suggested taking him to the hospital. So we did. We proceeded to leave him and train in a brilliant new spot we found. It was awesome.

Improvements
Since November, I've had periods when I seem to be getting nowhere especially at times when training has become less regular due to other things. But conversely, I come back after these periods and seem to be better than I ever was. It's like one step back and then three steps forward. Without putting excessive effort in I improve loads. I certainly aint complaining though. I went out into my village the other day and did many things I've previously struggled with with ease, did many things I never thought I'd be able to do and found so many more ways of doing things and moving through the environment.
My favourite improvements are my now-quite-quick-and-smooth climb-ups and muscle-ups, they feel so nice :)

Get Active
Well, there was this competition advertised at college which said you could win £500 by creating a short video promoting healthy eating or encouraging people to get active. I thought this could be fun, and we made this:

Well it turns out that whoever organised this competition did so really badly, as, despite entering our video, nothing really happened. They were impossible to contact. I'm guessing there were no other entries and that ours was too inappropriate (due to much slapping and running in front of busses and that) and it's not going ahead. But it was fun to make :]

Barnsley
There's an amazing spot in Barnsley, must go there again. [Barnsley Photos]

Tricking
Well this summery weather has got to me and I have taken up a bit of tricking again. Mixed results. It is quite fun and I have discovered I can aerial on flat, and almost do corks, however it is not doing my body any favours. I have alsorts of tweaks and twinges because my body is moving in these unusual ways and it doesn't seem to like it. Haha

I freaking love this shot:

Community
My gosh, I love how beautifully brilliant our parkour community has become in the Hudd. It's ace. So many of us coming together, such a diverse range of people enjoying themselves and having a funking awesome time doing what we love. Dude. Summer is going to be AWESOME.

Here's our latest proper video, it is by no means recent, but we haven't been putting much out. (Note Adam at 3:08 ;)

Music Video
We were asked to do some "stunts" for a music video not so long ago and we said yes. Filming was in the Hyde Park area of Leeds and was awesome. The band is Day 21. Such a good laugh and experience. Here is the initial [not that great] edit:

If you haven't seen it already, I made this website for our community.
CHECK IT OUT :)

And here's a few more photos I've been talking:

Felt the burn

I'm going to take a concise approach to this post.

Basically I got myself a weekend job.
This means I've been doing no weekend trainings.
This is rubbish.
Furthermore (that is a good word by the way you should try to use it more often) I have shiploads of college work which doesn't help.
Evenfurthermore (not a word but it should be) the weather is now very poor which limits things.
Nevertheless (also a good word) I have been doing gym training every Tuesday which is something.

Half term came.
Finally got a chance to do some proper training.
Went to Manchester to train with Ben for the first time since I met him.
Did some decent night training near the Uni.
Next day we went out again in the morning, did some basic jumping around on some rocks and trying different ways of getting between them.
Trained 'till dinnertime then Ben left for lectures and I met the homies from the Hudd. We trained in that good underground spot under Piccadilly Station for ages which was fun.
Heading elsewhere, it conveniently started to rain a little bit (but not much) just after we left the underground spot. We explored some good places and did some decent training and fun was had. Met with Ben again at 4ish and it looked like we were going to knuckle down to some more parkour. But for some reason everyone gashed off back to Huddersfield (after just 4 hours of training, at the most). To be fair some had valid reasons (i.e. injuries), but hey.
So me and Ben trundled off to make the most of the time. Met with Scott a little later when it was nice and dark and we got some solid parkouring going. I was quite knackered from my massive, condensed training period after doing very little for a while, and I felt the burn. Even though i wished my fellow Huddrats had stopped for longer to train, I really enjoyed training in a small group of three. 'Twas good.
Even though I fell out of a tree, it was good to be training again and hopefully I'll try to get my arse out more whenever I can.

Peace,

Cookie

P.S. If you haven't seen me since my last post, I am no longer injured and no longer annoyed. Well I am annoyed, but for different reasons.

P.P.S.
I do realise that the concise approach kind of dwindled away half way through but I'm not arsed :)

P.P.P.S. Check my new photo, it aint parkour, but I like it
